Here are some of our favorite nearby adventures
Harris Beach State Park - This state park is on the north side of town and is a great spot for picnicking, tidepooling and just taking in the beauty of the Oregon Coast.
California Redwoods- If you’ve nexer seen a Giant Sequoia, you are missing out on one of nature’s awe inspiring beauties. We love a drive through Stout Grove or a walk along the Trails off Hwy 199. If you want to take a longer adventure, drive down the California coast to the Trees of Mystery. Say “Hi” to Paul Bunyon and Babe, the (really) big blue ox. They talk to you!
Lucky 7 Casino - There’s a lovely restaurant here, as well as slots, buffets, blackjack and all your favorite casino games. While away a couple hours —it’s only three miles down the road.
Kidtown - Azalea Park in Brookings is a lovely walk any time of year. The Azaleas and Rhododendrons are almost always blooming. For kids, Kidtown will be the main draw - with swings and tires and ramps, this wooden play structure is hours of fun. In the summer, look for concerts and events in the park. In the winter, the Christmas light display is well worth an hour of your time (or more).
Fern Canyon - This little gem is a drive away, but you won’t want to miss it. You walk along the river at the bottom of walls of green. Plan to get wet!
Smith River - This is a great place for fishing, swimming, and enjoying some fresh water. It’s a super quiet, crystal clear river and lovely to just drive along.
Guided Fishing - There are lots of people who can take you out on the ocean or up the rivers to enjoy some amazing fishing. Check out this list, or call our friend Dave at 541-698-7029.
Harbor- Park at the harbor to enjoy surfers, waves and boat traffic from the comfort of your own car. Grab a bowl of the best clam chowder on the coast at the Hungry Clam.
